The business to business jewellery fair ran from December 8 to 10 at the Milan Mela Exhibition Complex in Kolkata, the event organiser KNC Services announced on Facebook. The trade show’s logistics partner was Sequel and the event reported an estimated 500 international visitors from countries and territories including the US, UK, UAE, Germany, Qatar, Turkey, Bangladesh, and Kuwait among others.

The event saw high numbers of lightweight jewellery designs on display, ET Bureau reported. Lightweight jewellery is increasingly popular as more and more consumers purchase fine jewellery for themselves and for everyday wear.

“There’s ongoing experimentation in the lightweight category, with goldsmiths across the state crafting ornaments based on designs provided by wholesalers,” said the Bangiya Swarna Shilpi Samity’s secretary and National Gems and Jewellery Council of India’s director Tagar Poddar, TNN reported. “While retailers have their manufacturing units, they rely on local jewellers or wholesalers for procurement to meet market demands.”

The event was designed to celebrate, “the exquisite artistry of Karigars in East India, crafting mesmerising jewellery that captivates hearts,” KNC Services announced on Facebook. The trade show described itself as the largest gem and jewellery fair in East India.
