Bata India to boost same store sales growth by focusing on its top six labels

Footwear business Bata India is focusing on boosting same store sales growth in the 2025 financial year by focusing on its top six labels and its core product offering. The business will expand its Floatz brand in particular this fiscal.

“We continue to drive expansion along with same-store sales growth that will be critical for our retail business,” said Bata India’s managing director and CEO Gunjan Shah in a communication with the business’ shareholders, the Press Trust of India reported. “We are focusing our efforts on unlocking new opportunities, primarily by prioritising our top six brands, along with Bata Core.”
 
The business plans to bring its Floatz footwear label to more of its stores and expand its product offering. Floatz retails plastic flip flops, clogs, and sliders for men and women in a wide range of colours.
Bata India reported a sales total of Rs 3,478.4 crore in the 2024 financial year, India Retailing reported. The business also reported a 2% year-on-year increase in its operating profit margin during the last fiscal year.
 
Bata was originally launched in the Czech Republic and is today headquartered in Switzerland, the Financial Express reported. The business made its India debut in Kolkata in 1931 and currently has a retail network of over 1,850 stores, including over 500 franchise stores, and over 650 sneaker studios in the country.
