Bajaj Consumer Care acquires Banjara’s parent company Vishal Personal Care

Consumer care business Bajaj Consumer Care has acquired skincare brand Banjara’s parent company Vishal Personal Care Private Limited as it moves to expand in India’s fast growing Ayurvedic and natural personal care sector and reach more shoppers in South India.

“The acquisition of Vishal Personal Care Private Limited is a strategic step in strengthening Bajaj Consumer Care’s footprint in the five southern markets,” said Bajaj Consumer Care’s managing director Jaideep Nandi, India Retailing reported. “The addition of Banjara’s to our portfolio enhances our ability to serve evolving consumer needs across India while complementing our product range for further expansion.”

The acquisition was approved at Bajaj Consumer Care Limited’s board meeting on February 14 and the deal gives the business a 100% stake in Vishal Personal Care, to be carried out in a phased manner. The acquisition deal has a transaction value of Rs 120 crore and enterprise value of Rs 108.3 crore. Bajaj Consumer Care Limited will integrate the Banjara’s brand into its own portfolio which will enable it to tap into the label’s strong retail presence in South India.  

Banjara’s was established in 1991 and its personal care products follow Ayurvedic principles. The brand’s offering includes moisturisers, sunscreens, face packs, face gels, face washes, facial kits, and hair oils among others, according to its Facebook page.
