India Watch Weekend brought together horology enthusiasts and luxury brands at its first edition in Mumbai. The invite only event featured industry experts and global brands as well as interactive sessions.
The event was conceptualised by The Hour Markers’ co-founder Karishma Karer and The Hour Markers’ co-founder and Red Bar India’s founder Punit Mehta, India Watch Weekend announced in a press release. With the aim of promoting community building and knowledge sharing, the event ran from January 25 to 26.
“India Watch Weekend is a celebration of the Indian collector community,” said Karishma Karer in a press release. “While we have always been committed to supporting and spotlighting brands, this event is purely for the Indian watch enthusiasts who fuel the industry with their passion. It’s about bringing people together, sharing stories, and having fun while honouring the artistry of horology.”
The event began with an interactive session with Time Avenue, featuring trivia and debates while hosting brands such as Tudor, Breguet, Omega, Franck Muller, L’Epee, and Chopard among others. The event’s second session saw Karishma Karer in conversation with horology expert and author Ali Nael and horologist and historian Arnaud Tellier from FutureGrail, a platform which seeks to preserve special timepieces.
“India Watch Weekend brings together collectors, enthusiasts, and brands to celebrate the art of horology in India,” said Time Avenue, Mumbai’s director Nikki Rajan. “It’s a platform where passion for timepieces meets innovation and craftsmanship. A gathering that bridges the legacy of watchmaking with the future of the watch industry in India. For those who live and breathe watches, every moment is an experience.”
Other activities at the event included an interactive watchmaking session, a sundowner for watch collectors, and an exploration of the links between luxury watches and cars with BMW Infinity Motors. The Indian watch market reached $1.6 billion in 2024 and is expected to reach $2.8 billion by 2033, according to the event organisers who intend to contribute to this growth story.
“India Watch Weekend is not just about a certain community of collectors- we take pride in bringing together enthusiasts from diverse watch communities across the country,” said Punit Mehta. “India Watch Weekend truly is for those who find joy in discovering rare timepieces, sharing their stories, and building a community that celebrates the art of watchmaking.”
