The Apparel Made-Ups & Home Furnishing Sector Skill Council (AMHSSC) has named Vijay Kumar Yadav as its new CEO. In his new role, Yadav will lead the AMHSSC’s apparel sector training activities.

“With India’s demographic profile boasting a young generation, with 65% of our population below 35, I am honoured to share our vision and commitment as the newly appointed CEO of AMHSSC towards empowering our youth with skills that transcend boundaries and create opportunities within India and globally,” said Vijay Kumar Yadav in a statement posted on the AMHSSC’s website. “The Council’s primary aim is to equip youth with future-ready skills, enabling them to meet the demands of the rapidly evolving job landscape, particularly in the apparel sector. We aim to foster a skilled workforce proficient in job-specific expertise and essential soft skills, language proficiency, digital literacy, and financial acumen.”
 
Yadav stepped into his new role on April 1 and has 22 years of experience in the industry. As CEO, Yadav will lead the AMHSSC’s next phase of development. 

“We are excited to welcome Dr. Vijay Kumar Yadav as the new CEO of AMHSSC,” said a spokesperson for the AMHSSC board, Apparel Resources reported. “In his remarkable career, he has demonstrated exceptional leadership and a deep understanding of the textile industry. His extensive experience in industrial and academic research, coupled with his visionary approach, makes him the perfect fit to lead AMHSSC into its next chapter of growth and success.”
 
The AMHSSC operates under the aegis of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship at the Government of India, according to its official website. The organisation was established in July 2015 with the aim of revolutionising skill training in the apparel sector to boost both employment opportunities and the clothing industry of India.
