On July 30, designer Anamika Khanna presented Indian crafts as luxury, wearable art at her showcase at the 16th edition of India Couture Week. The runway show took place at the Taj Palace’s Durbar Hall and actress Athiya Shetty walked as showstopper for the eponymous designer.

Anamika Khanna’s couture collection mixed fresh white hues with bold, oversized prints and opulent embellishments. Both the men’s and the women’s occasion wear played with texture and botanical influences and the collection featured both traditional silhouettes and experimental ones.

Actress Athiya Shetty closed the show and walked with Khanna wearing a white, floor length gown featuring intricate lace, bright, botanical appliqués, and silver sparkle. The collection had a mature, worldly, and feminine sensibility with fusion style pieces that were designed as wearable textile art.

The collection featured textiles including Kinkhab brocade, sheer fabrics, and slinky satin. Notable looks included a sharara blazer set and textured skirts paired with jewellery-like bralet tops.

The show’s set design featured fresh flowers and artistic arrangements by Interflora India, the florist announced on Instagram. Candles, an avian mural, and a black backdrop added to the drama of the evening.

For the 16th edition of India Couture Week, the Fashion Design Council of India has brought together 16 designers to each showcase a collection in New Delhi with the main location being the Taj Palace. Sponsored by Hyundai, the fashion week runs from July 25 to August 2. The event runs in association with Reliance Brands Limited and participating designers include Ritu Kumar, Suneet Varma, Dolly J, and Rimzim Dadu among others.
