Amazon plans to launch new value fashion and lifestyle segment in India

US-based e-commerce giant Amazon plans to embrace value retail by launching ‘Amazon Bazaar’. The new segment will retail a wide selection of low priced fashion and lifestyle goods to price conscious shoppers.

“Bazaar is a new store on Amazon where you can sell your fashion and lifestyle products online at no extra charges, thus making it more profitable to run your business,” read a document sent by Amazon to its sellers, accessed by Livemint.
 
All goods on Amazon Bazaar will be priced below Rs 600 and will be unbranded products. Categories featured in the segment of the e-commerce platform will include apparel, footwear, watches, jewellery, travel accessories and luggage, and other fashion accessories. 

Value fashion retailers are gaining popularity in India, a trend which is in line with the increase in internet access in rural areas. Amazon Bazaar will compete with other value fashion players such as Meesho, which began as a social commerce platform and now specialises in value retail, and Flipkart’s Shopsy app. 
 
Amazon plans to offer a zero referral fee for merchants to encourage sellers to embrace the new platform. Delivery of products on Amazon Bazaar is expected to be set at between two and three days and there will also be no closing fee for sellers.
