Amazon India has launched ‘Bazaar’ as a new vertical to retail value priced fashion and lifestyle products from the business’ Android app for the Indian market. The new vertical is being promoted to a select group of app users in its initial launch phase.
Amazon India’s Bazaar is designed to cater to shoppers looking for the cheapest goods in one place. The vertical specialises in unbranded goods with product categories including apparel, footwear, accessories, luggage and travel goods, jewellery, and watches, ET Tech reported.
Products on Amazon India’s Bazaar are all priced below Rs 600, with many goods at Rs 99, to make them accessible to the mass market. The vertical’s new logo has Amazon’s signature curved arrow and the vertical currently has a coral and white colour scheme.
Bazaar launched with an inaugural offer of free delivery on goods ordered through the app. Shoppers can also avail five day returns and pay with cash on delivery, which is especially popular in more rural areas.
As the products on Bazaar are generally cheaper than on Amazon India’s main site, delivery times are expected to take longer, the Economic Times reported. Bazaar will compete with other Indian value e-commerce platforms including homegrown platform Meesho and Flipkart’s value app Shopsy.
