London’s multi-brand luxury fashion boutique Aashni + Co has opened its first store in India in Mumbai’s Kalaghoda district. The new store houses a wide range of desi designers and global brands with a focus on occasion wear.
Aashni + Co’s first India location is set in a regal building featuring stone columns at the door and a warm toned, wooden clad interior. The store launched with a celebrity-filled party complete with refreshments and a red carpet, the business announced on Facebook.
“Kala Ghoda is a significant historic district location, and it serves as a cross-cultural preference point,” Aashni + Co’s founder Aashni Shah told Elle India about the new store. “Our focus was not on replicating a specific era, but we drew a lot of inspiration from the art and the walls and the hybrid geometries in a lot of innovative ways. When you enter the ground floor, visitors are greeted by a lot of intersecting walls which pivot around a central focal column, all in hues of ivory.”
Brands featured in-store include Tarun Tahiliani, Torani, Anamika Khanna, Simar Dugal, Sheetal Batra, and Kamaali Couture among others. Sabyasachi‘s ‘New York’ collection is available in-store along with collections from a number of Middle East and UK-based designers.
The store has a wide selection of bridal and wear also features a number of artefacts to set a heritage tone. An ‘Indo British Tea Bar’ provides a themed setting where shoppers can relax as they contemplate purchases.
