Textile giant Aditya Birla Group’s corporate social initiative Aadyam Handwoven has opened a new store in Hyderabad’s Banjara Hills. The business joined forces with the Crafts Council of Telangana to celebrate the launch along with the spirit of National Handloom Day.
The new store is located within the Craft Council of Telangana’s CCT Spaces location on Road Number 12, Aadyam Handwoven announced on Facebook on August 7. Along with unveiling the store and its selection of handwoven sarees, the event was designed to share knowledge on handloom and celebrate its traditions.
“The event proved to be an enlightening experience for attendees, as it commenced with a thought-provoking panel discussion on the ‘Relevance of Handloom for the Global Market and Young Audience’,” announced Aadyam Handwoven on Facebook. “The esteemed panel, featuring Gaurang Shah, Sudha Rani Mullapudi, and Usha Sarvarayalu engaged in a captivating conversation, expertly moderated by Lead Advisor Manish Saksena. The discussion shed light on the intricate techniques and labor of love that go into creating magnificent handwoven masterpieces, emphasising the vital role that today’s youth play in preserving and appreciating this age-old art form.”
After the panel discussion, guests were shown around the new store before sitting for a high tea. By opening the store, the business aims to enthuse all generations to embrace handloom and keep the tradition alive, according to Aadyam Handwoven. The business works with weaving clusters with the aim of creating a self-sustaining ecosystem for artisans.
