Karuppu, starring Suriya in the lead role, is an upcoming fantasy action film slated for release on May 14, 2026. With just a week left before its release, the makers have yet to unveil the trailer. Director RJ Balaji has now addressed the delay and assured fans that it will be released soon.
Director RJ Balaji clarifies about Karuppu trailer delay
Taking to his social media handle, RJ Balaji shared a video explaining the reason behind the trailer delay. He said, “We are currently in the middle of preparations for the release of Karuppu, which is arriving next week. But before the film’s release, the trailer should come out too, right? It is ready, and I’m sure all of you will like it. Due to the current situation unfolding around us, and when we were all happy with the results, unexpected twists took place. But let us hope that good things happen in the end. Let us pray for that. Let good prevail.”
Balaji added, “Until a positive outcome is reached, we wanted to wait and see what happens because we did not want to release the trailer only for other news to overshadow it. So let us hope a clear solution emerges soon. We are planning to release the trailer, the extended version of the Verappa song, and finally the film, all of which we hope you’ll enjoy.”

Suriya’s work front
Following Karuppu, Suriya will next be seen in Vishwanath and Sons, directed by Venky Atluri. The film is said to be an emotionally driven romantic drama featuring Mamitha Baiju as the female lead and Raveena Tandon in a pivotal role. It is slated to hit theatres in July 2026.
The actor has also begun work on a cop action-comedy tentatively titled Suriya47. Directed by Jithu Madhavan, the film stars Nazriya Nazim as the female lead, with Naslen playing a key role.
