Travel and lifestyle accessories brand Uppercase recycled over 16.31 lakh plastic bottles in 2024 along with 5.67 lakh polycarbonate mobile cases as the business works to reduce CO2 emissions and oil usage as part of its commitment to sustainability and eco-friendly manufacturing.
“At uppercase, we believe in taking tangible steps toward sustainability, not just discussing it,” said the brand’s CEO Sudip Ghose in a press release. “This year, our initiatives to recycle millions of plastic bottles and polycarbonate materials have demonstrated how waste can be transformed into something meaningful. It’s a proud moment for us, but also a reminder of the work that lies ahead. We’re dedicated to fostering innovation in sustainability while contributing to a cleaner, healthier planet for future generations.”
The brand’s recycling efforts have resulted in an estimated savings of 129,874 kilograms of CO2 emissions and 28,709 liters of oil, according to the label. Uppercase aims to promote a circular economy and turn waste “into valuable resources.”
“Plastic waste continues to be a major global issue, with only 9% of plastic waste successfully recycled, according to an OECD report,” announced the brand. “The remainder often ends up in landfills or pollutes oceans, worsening the climate crisis. Uppercase has taken on this challenge head-on, using the principles of a circular economy to transform waste into products that inspire both consumers and industries to rethink waste and embrace sustainability.”
Uppercase’s products include backpacks, trolley bags, duffles, and shoulder bags. The brand retails from its direct to customer e-commerce store and its outlets across India.
