Gokyo announces it has launched India’s first ‘Mountaineering Summit Downsuit’

Indian outdoor and performance wear brand Gokyo announced that it has launched “India’s first ‘’Mountaineering Summit Downsuit’”. The launch is designed to bolster the brand’s trekking apparel product range and the garment is currently available for pre-order through its direct to customer e-commerce store.

“The use of 80:20 down-fill ensures that the downsuit provides exceptional warmth, lightweight and compact which is essential for high-altitude expeditions where every ounce matters,” said Gokyo’s co-founder Venki Maheshwari in a press release. “By producing this specialised gear domestically, Gokyo not only supports local manufacturing but also proves the capability of the country to make products that have been made only internationally.”
 
The brand supports the government’s ‘Make in India’ campaign which promotes domestic production across numerous industries including clothing and textiles. Gokyo’s full range of outdoor clothing, accessories, and gear is domestically made and tailored to the needs of Indian adventure enthusiasts, according to the label.
 
The ‘Mountaineering Summit Downsuit’ is designed to be worn in extreme cold weather conditions such as on snowy mountainsides. The garment also features water resistant zips and pockets. 
 
This year, Gokyo expanded its product selection to include a womenswear line. The brand has also opened points of sale in Noida and Thane this year and plans to continue to expand its brick-and-mortar footprint.
