Itrh looked to ancient Egypt for its runway presentation named ‘Ankh’ on day three at Lakmé Fashion Week x Fashion Design Council of India in Mumbai. Mixing sleek silhouettes with opulent embellishments, the collection was teaming with gold, sparkle, and fusion-style glamour.
Notable looks included a glittering black maxi skirt covered in subtle Hieroglyphs and paired with a demi-sheer, floor-length cape and a gold, body-con maxi dress covered in tiny crystals. Models wore dramatic cat-eye makeup, bringing to mind ancient Egyptian artworks, and hair was worn simply slicked back or poker-straight.
The ancient-inspired looks were modernised with streetwear touches including baseball caps and sports bra shaped glittering blouses. “Each piece embodies the mystique of the Nile and iconic figures like Nefertiti and Cleopatra, blending opulence and intrigue seamlessly,” announced Lakmé Fashion Week on Facebook. “The collection embodies harmony and balance, from structured jackets to flowing skirts, enhancing the wearer’s natural beauty with precision and symmetry.”
This season, Lakmé Fashion Week x FDCI runs from March 13 to 17 at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai. The fashion week showcases collections from designers from across India and features both physical runway shows and digital showcases with a number of design competitions and fashion seminars.
