Agilitas Sports is now a Rs 700 crore to Rs 800 crore business and aims to become a $1 billion dollar company in terms of revenue in the future. The business is also harnessing Mochiko’s manufacturing capabilities to enable more global brands to make in India.
The business’ co-founder Abhishek Ganguly told India Retailing that he is confident that the business will become a $1 billion enterprise, but it could take between seven and 10 years. “We have already acquired Mochiko where we are almost Rs 700-800 crore business and that’s a great starting point,” said Ganguly. “But having a billion-dollar revenue Indian sports company is a great opportunity.”
Agilitas Sports acquired Mochiko Shoes in September 2023 to bolster its footwear offering. Mochiko Shoes manufactures footwear for a range of international brands including Puma, where Ganguly was previously an executive, as well as Adidas, Skechers, Asics, Clarks, Decathlon, and Crocs among others. Mochiko Shoes reported a revenue total of Rs 642 crore in the 2023 financial year and announced at the time that it expects growth of around 30% year-on-year in the 2024 financial year.
As part of its first phase of operations, Agilitas Sports aims to use Mochiko Shoes to connect with more international sports footwear brands to enable them to produce their products in India. With manufacturing facilities in Uttarakhand and Noida, Mochiko is tapping into the growing global trend of brands looking to India for footwear production.
By the end of this year, Agilitas Sports aims to build a brand platform to tap into the increasing demand for sports footwear in the country. “There is white space in the affordable aspirational brand segment, given the demographic profile of India with more than 50% of Indians below 25 years of age and more disposable income coming to the middle class,” said Ganguly. “This is where we will play and we will not play with just one brand.”
