Renowned for its editorials and campaigns featuring iconic photographers such as Steven Meisel and David Sims, alongside top models like Irina Shayk and Kate Moss, the Galician brand has a history of partnering with industry luminaries to introduce new products beyond fashion.

This trend was evident with the British brand Jo Malone, which collaborated with Zara to introduce a range of premium yet affordable perfumes, and makeup artist Diane Kendal, responsible for conceptualizing the brand’s first comprehensive makeup line in 2021. This November, in preparation for the holiday season, Zara has set its sights on a hitherto unexplored category: hair products.

The venture into the new category, an addition to the Zara Beauty range, takes the shape of a limited-edition collection entitled ‘Glitter In Gold, Make-Up For Your Hair’, targeting sophisticated party hairstyles. According to the brand, this initial capsule, comprising two products and two accessories, is a “teaser of what the new Zara Hair line has in store for 2024.” The complete offering will encompass a range of “essential” hair care products.

To craft the collection, available on the brand’s website and select physical stores from November 30, Zara collaborated with one of its regular collaborators: the British creative director and stylist Guido Palau, recognized for his work in prestigious publications like Vogue, Love, and W Magazine and for luxury labels such as Prada, Balenciaga, and Yves Saint Laurent.

“It’s makeup for your hair. With these products, you can bring a different and fun look to your hair for a night out,” explained Pala regarding the concept of the capsule, which includes a gold fixing gel, a shiny effect spray, a set of golden finish hairpins, and a wide-toothed comb in the same hue. Priced at €39.95, the products will be available together in a gift set format.

Moreover, the launch is accompanied by a distinguished ambassador, someone both Zara and Palau have collaborated with on numerous occasions. Kaia Gerber, the daughter of the iconic Cindy Crawford, became the face of a series of informal tutorial videos celebrating the line’s launch.

“I trust no one more than Guido when it comes to my hair,” said the model about her longtime collaborator, whom she’s known since her first fashion editorial.

Founded in 1974, the brand, which presents its financial results jointly with Zara Home, saw a 13.1% increase in net sales in the first half of its ongoing fiscal year, reaching €12.362 billion. Globally, the group presided over by Marta Ortega amassed a total turnover of €16.851 billion.
