“According to the Global Green Skills Report 2023, green jobs are witnessing a transformation, demanding a blend of managerial, technical, and social skills, which can pose accessibility challenges for potential workers,” said ProtaTech Inc’s president and CEO Abraham Kumar in his address at the event, FICCI reported in a press release. “However, the report presents fresh insights into green skills and jobs, offering a roadmap for transitioning the global workforce towards a green economy future.”

According to Linkedin data, hiring for green roles has increased for four consecutive years. The platform’s data predicts that this growth will continue at 8.6% over the coming decade. This means that businesses across the Indian fashion, beauty, and jewellery sectors and beyond will be creating more positions focused on sustainability as they continue to focus on making their business practices greener.

“As green jobs demand higher skills, policy interventions can play a pivotal role in enabling workers to acquire the necessary expertise and enhance their competitiveness,” said Kumar. The Indian government runs a number of skill training programmes to help build employment opportunities and has a strong focus on sustainable professions linked to indigenous and heritage craft skills.
