This season, Tahiliani’s menswear was fully embellished in traditional motifs but modernised with softer silhouettes which moved away from traditional stiffness. For the womenswear, backless blouses featured draped jewellery details and embellishments including tiny butterflies added a charming touch to form fitting lehengas. The collection featured intricate sequin and beadwork and certain looks were adorned with 3D botanical appliqués.

Jewellery was provided by PMJ Jewels and Shree Jee Jaipur, the brand announced on Instagram. Both brands provided an array of statement fine jewellery pieces such as PMJ Jewels’ gemstone encrusted chokers. As the show concluded, Tahiliani brought his design team out on stage to take a bow to highlight the collaborative effort of the collection.

For its 16th season, India Couture Week runs at multiple locations in New Delhi including the Taj Palace. The Fashion Design Council of India’s event runs from July 25 to August 2 and the fashion shows are streamed online to enable the public to watch, following on from a trend which took off during the pandemic.

The title sponsor for India Couture Week is Hyundai and the event runs in partnership with Reliance Brands. The 16 designers participating in the fashion week include Rimzim Dadu, Gaurav Gupta, Dolly J, Falguni Shane Peacock, and Ritu Kumar among others.
