Zepto works with over 500 artisans for festive empowerment drive

Quick commerce business Zepto has partnered with over 500 Indian artisans to help them to sell handcrafted goods and reach more shoppers this festive season. The business also expects to see its home deliveries increase tenfold year on year this Diwali season.

“We’ve been crafting Diyas since childhood, and Diwali is when all our hard work finally pays off,” said Diya artisan Pradeep Kumar, Zepto shared in a press release. “This year, Zepto helped us bring our Diyas to homes across the country, connecting us with a much wider audience. It’s been a game-changer for us, and I’m grateful for their support.”
 
Along with Diwali Diyas, Zepto will be offering handcrafted goods including Ganesh and Durga idols and Marapacchi dolls. Traditional Diya makers often rely on last minute sales to offload their stock at Diwali and have to sell by the roadside. Zepto aims to help craftspeople to reach customers with more efficiency and its demand forecasting capabilities can help artisans to plan their stock requirements ahead of time, according to the business.
 
Zepto aims to support 50 families from the Prajapati clan, a group of Kumhars (potters) whose craft heritage dates back to the historic Ramayana era. The initiative is also designed to strengthen Zepto’s links to local craftspeople in general and bolster its selection of goods often needed by Indians for last minute, swift deliveries.
 
“We believe in empowering local entrepreneurs at Zepto, and we salute Pradeep and others who are crafting beautiful Diyas to light up Diwali,” said Zepto’s co-founder and CEO Aadit Palicha. “It’s an honour to help bring their work to millions of homes this festive season.”
