Sustainable fashion brand Virgio has been awarded the Vegan Fashion Award for ‘Company of the Year 2024’ by animal rights organisation PETA India to recognise its contribution to animal-friendly fashion and promotion of vegan products.
“PETA India is delighted to award Virgio the Vegan Fashion Award for ‘Company of the Year’ because conscious fashion is the future,” said PETA India’s chief corporate liaison Ashima Kukreja in a press release. “Virgio’s commitment to creating innovative, stylish, and cruelty-free fashion sets a remarkable example in the industry, demonstrating you can have a look that kills without killing animals. We congratulate Virgio on this well-deserved recognition and look forward to witnessing their positive impact on the fashion world.”
The award is designed to highlight apparel brands that support compassionate consumer choices and innovate ethical design. Virgio has been expanding its responsible fashion offering and is creating a closed-loop production system to minimise waste and protect the environment.
“We are deeply honoured to receive the Vegan Fashion Award from PETA India,” said Virgio’s co-founder and CEO Amar Nagaram. “Animal cruelty remains a menace in fashion, with countless animals killed for leather and fur every year. At Virgio, we are committed to breaking this harmful cycle by creating cruelty-free, sustainable fashion. It’s crucial to start this conversation and make ethical fashion more mainstream. This award inspires us to keep proving that style and compassion can go hand in hand, while raising the bar for conscious fashion.”
