Apparel brand Virgio has partnered with mental health advocate Siddhesh Lokare to launch the Mental Health Ambulance, a mobile initiative providing free therapy sessions for women in Mumbai.
Set up at various locations across the city, the ambulance offers a private space where women can access professional mental health support. Certified therapist Simran is available on-site for one-on-one sessions, allowing women to discuss personal challenges in a secure setting. The initiative was introduced on Women’s Day in response to increasing demand for accessible mental health care.
“There are so many women around us, from different walks of life, struggling in silence,” said Siddhesh Lokare in a press release. “Through this initiative, we wanted to remind them that their mental well-being matters and that they don’t have to go through it alone.”
Beyond the mobile service, the initiative also aims to normalise mental health discussions and encourage women to seek support. Virgio’s co-founder and CEO Amar Nagaram highlighted the brand’s focus on social impact and said, “at Virgio, we believe in going beyond fashion to create a lasting impact on communities. Women’s mental health is often overlooked, and through this initiative, we want to encourage women to prioritise their well-being.”
By offering free therapy sessions, Virgio and Siddhesh Lokare are working to reduce stigma around mental health and provide accessible support for women in need. The move also positions the apparel label as community oriented.
