Bahrain is a tiny island nation near the Persian Gulf and shares its borders between Saudi Arabia and Qatar. The island is famous for its petroleum reserves, tourism, and offshore banking. Despite being a Muslim nation, there are no strict Islamic laws like any other neighboring places. It has a very relaxed atmosphere, which is a significant reason for it being a tourist attraction. However, there many more reasons for its enhanced popularity, one of which is the world’s largest underwater theme park
About the underwater theme park project
Bahrain has launched the world’s largest underwater eco-friendly theme park in collaboration with the Supreme Council for Environment, private sectors, and Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA).
The world’s largest underwater theme park covers over a distance of 100,000 square meters. Boeing 474 is a 70-meter long aircraft ever submerged in a water body. It is placed as a centerpiece in the dive site of Bahrain.
You can visit the dive site to get an exceptional diving experience along with exploring the underwater theme park. The theme park includes some more structures in addition to the aircraft like a replica of a traditional Bahraini pearl merchant’s house, some structures made from eco-friendly material, and artificial coral reefs. All these submerged structures cause no harm to the haven place of marine life habitat and the growth site of the coral reefs.
How many tourists visited after the launch?
His Highness Shaikh Abdullah highlighted the Kingdom’s effort and commitment to preserving the marine habitat from any danger that was kept in mind while forming the theme park under the water. All the other details of the world’s largest underwater theme park project were announced by the personal representative of his Majesty King Hamad, the president of the Supreme Council for Environment.
The structure of the theme park has incorporated the highest international environment standards so that no harm is caused to the water body and its wildlife. The launch of this fantastic underwater project has made Bahrain, the global leader on eco-tourism and marine wildlife preservation field. The eco-friendly project has made Bahrain an international tourist attraction because it has a large area to explore, multiple tourist locations, and it also offers a unique experience to the diving enthusiasts of the world.
With the help of this dive site, many researchers have obtained rich information and data on the biological and ecological life of the marine world. Not only this, but the eco-friendly project has also boosted the Kingdom’s eco-tourism sector to a high level. According to the stats, more than 1,40,000 visitors visited the island last year.
The world’s largest underwater eco-friendly theme park
The underwater dive site was launched in the summer of 2019. It was in partnership with the local dive companies, clubs, and some private sectors. The first phase of the park was inaugurated in June 2019, when the largest aircraft was carefully submerged a 20meter deep in the water. However, the locals and tourists were able to book the dive center through licensed diving centers from August 2019. The Ministry or the BTEA imposes no fees for visiting the beautiful dive site in Bahrain.
