Children’s personal care brand Tuco Kids has named Chanakya Gupta as a co-founder. The executive joins the business from Cult Fit and will work to scale up the business and develop partnerships in both e-commerce and quick commerce.
“It would have taken something big to step away from my dream role of making India play sports with amazing folks at Cult Fit,” wrote Chanakya Gupta in a post on Linkedin. “And what better than joining forces with Aishvarya Murali whose passion for sustainability and flair for consumer marketing is unparalleled. The opportunity to create a category, which has so far been neglected, and to create it the right way- safe, effective, fun for kids as well as not having to borrow mother earth from our future generations, was too tempting for me to see it happen only from the sidelines. Super excited to build Tuco Kids and scale this grounds up with category and channel partners in marketplaces and q-commerce; the investors who have put their faith, expertise and resources behind both of us, and of course with the rockstar team that is putting all its might bringing this vision to life.”
Along with his work for Cult Fit, Gupta also spent almost a decade in leadership roles at e-commerce giant Flipkart, including working with private brands. Tuco Kids’ current product selection includes sunscreen, haircare, soaps, and skincare goods among others and the brand plans to widen both its product offering and distribution network.
“Welcome, co-founder,” announced Aishvarya Murali on Linkedin when updating her job title from Tuco Kids’ ‘founder’ to ‘co-founder’. “When I first started, I thought this would just be a hobby. But Chanakya saw the vision before I did- our first angel in the business, both literally and figuratively. Not just a supporter, but Tuco Kids’ biggest cheerleader. To every challenge, his response is always the same: ‘I’m on it, ho jayega’… I’ve never been more excited- or grateful- to update my LinkedIn title.”
