At the opening ceremony, Subramanian announced that the facility will help to provide much needed  skilled labour in the area which will help numerous industries to grow, Apparel Resources reported. The skill development facility’s opening was also attended by Titan’s vice president and chief sustainability officer NE Sridhar, head of corporate social responsibility Major Dominic JJ, and the Tirupur Exporters Association’s joint secretary Kumar Duraisamy.

The Titan Leap Centre is part of Titan Company’s corporate social responsibility work. The inauguration event highlighted the potential for increased skilled labour in the area and noted Tamil Nadu’s high ratio of women’s employment in relation to the whole of India.

“The programme is highly effective and dynamic by constantly incorporating training for newer skills the youth can leverage in the market,” announced Titan Company about its Leap initiative on its website. “Subsequently, to include rural youth within the scope, the programme expanded to include rural livelihoods… This programme also focuses on skilling women vulnerable to trafficking and belonging to marginalised communities who suffer from low confidence, humiliation, and poverty. It trains them in relevant digital skills and places them in backend jobs until they are confident enough to handle front end roles.”
