Multi-brand Indian fashion boutique The Amethyst Room will host jewellery designer Anu Merton in Chennai to bring her whimsical creations to the city’s shoppers. The exclusive showcase event will take place from September 6 to 7 on Chamiers Road.
Eponymous designer Anu Merton will attend her brand showcase in person on September 6 to connect with shoppers and share her inspirations behind her latest jewellery collection, The Amethyst Room announced in a press release. The event will present a selection of Anu Merton’s best selling jewellery designs over the years.
Jewellery on display at the showcase will be priced between Rs 1,700 and Rs 27,000 to appeal to diverse customer demographics. The label’s jewellery is made in workshops across Jaipur, Jodhpur, Bengaluru (where the brand is based), and Patna, Merton’s hometown.
“Dressing up should be fun,” said Merton about her designs in a press release. “It should be when you put on your music, pour a glass of something and enjoy the experience, flowing to where it takes you, very much like the ancient shringar – a norm, not an occasion… Why should jewellery as we know it only be worn in the evenings and on holidays? Why should it be stored in drawers and bank lockers, only emerging for an ‘occasion’? What’s the point of a diamond necklace if you can’t wear it all the time? At the end of the day, clothes and jewellery are just stuff. They shouldn’t cost an arm and a leg to own.”
