However, certain actor-director duos consistently deliver successful films and have managed to win audience’s hearts. 1. Karan Johar-Ranveer Singh (Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani)

Karan Johar and Ranveer Singh teamed up for the first time in July 2023, Karan Johar’s seventh directorial venture, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, featuring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt alongside Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan, and Shabana Azmi, was released and turned out to be a successful film. Both the audience and critics praised it for being a contemporary family drama with genuine Indian emotions.

2. Karan Johar-Alia Bhatt (Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani)

Karan Johar had launched Alia Bhatt with the film titled Student Of The Year, alongside Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra and the duo have collaborated together in many other hit films. The filmmaker’s recent directorial film Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani featured Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh in the lead roles. The family entertainer was a huge hit and received immense love from audiences.  

3. Luv Ranjan-Ranbir Kapoor (Tu Jhoothi Main Makkar) 

Ranbir Kapoor featured in Luv Ranjan’s rom-com, Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar alongside Shraddha Kapoor. The director-actor duo collaborated for the first time for this film and the film had crossed the 100 crore mark at the box office and garnered immense love and appreciation.

4. Atlee-Shah Rukh Khan (Jawaan)

Bollywood megastar Shah Rukh Khan teamed up with well-known Tamil director Atlee for the film Jawan, which enjoyed a remarkable success at the box office. In Jawan, Shah Rukh Khan portrayed a dual role, and the film also starred National award-winner Vijay Sethupathi as the main antagonist. Nayanthara had the female lead role, and Deepika Padukone made a special appearance in the movie.

5. Sandeep Reddy Vanga-Ranbir Kapoor (Animal)

Ranbir Kapoor and Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s first ever collaboration for the film Animal has been a huge success. The film has been generating a huge buzz ever since it was announced and audience have loved the actor’s performance in the film.

6. Rajkumar Hirani-Shah Rukh Khan (Dunki)

This director-actor duo was one of the highly anticipated pairings. In 2003, they were supposed to collaborate for Munna Bhai MBBS, but due to unforeseen circumstances, it didn’t happen. It took another 20 years for this film partnership to finally come to fruition.The audience was finally able to witness their collaboration with the recently released film Dunki which is having a smooth run at the box office.

7. Siddharth Anand-Shah Rukh Khan (Pathaan)

Shah Rukh Khan and Siddharth Anand collaborated for the film Pathaan. The movie did really well in the box office as well as received a lot of praise from both the film critics and the audience. It also featured Deepika Padukone and John Abraham in the lead roles.

8. Meghna Gulzar-Vicky Kaushal (Sam Bahadur)

Filmmaker Meghna Gulzar and Vicky Kaushal had earlier collaborated in the hit film titled Raazi. Recently, the director-actor duo joined forces once again for the film Sam Bahadur. Vicky played the main character in a movie about the life of India’s first Field Marshal and military leader, Sam Manekshaw.

9. Maneesh Sharma-Salman Khan (Tiger 3)

Salman Khan and Maneesh Sharma teamed up for the edge-of-the-seat action spectacle film Tiger 3. The superstar starred alongside Katrina Kaif in the film and the film had a successful run at the box office. 

10. Anil Sharma-Sunny Deol (Gadar 2)

In 2001, Sunny Deol delivered one of Bollywood’s most successful films with Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, marking a significant breakthrough for the actors involved. This year, Sunny Deol and Anil Sharma, the director-actor team, released the sequel called Gadar 2. The film also featured Ameesha Patel and was a blockbuster.

11. Laxman Utekar-Vicky Kaushal (Zara Hatke Zara Bachke) 

Director Laxman Utekar and Vicky Kaushal joined forces for the romantic comedy Zara Hatke Zara Bachke, which also featured Sara Ali Khan in the lead role. The film became a hit at the box office and the audiences enjoyed the delightful blend of romance and humor in the film.
