Robert F Kennedy Jr endorses Donald Trump and drops out of presidential race | US News

Robert F Kennedy Jr has abandoned his independent presidential bid to endorse Republican nominee Donald Trump. 

The news emerged in court documents filed by his campaign team.

Mr Kennedy is the nephew of former US president John F Kennedy, who was assassinated in Dallas in 1963.

He is also the son of former US attorney general Robert F Kennedy, JFK’s brother, who later launched his own presidential bid. He too was assassinated in 1968.

Despite his family’s history with the Democratic Party, RFK Jr was running as an independent.
