Footwear brand Relaxo has entered the Moroccan market and plans to retail a select range of its products through multi-brand outlets while also launching between two and three exclusive brand outlets through a local distributor.
“This is a very strategic market for us because it is north of Africa and has a lot of effect of [sic] Europe,” said Relaxo Footwears’ executive vice president Ritesh Dua in an interview with ET Retail. “We are already present in eastern Africa, but this market has been on our wish list for long. The Moroccan market is exposed to shoes and sneakers significantly and thus we are prioritising our Sparkx brand here.”
Relaxo Footwears exports its footwear products to over 30 countries worldwide and its exports contribute approximately 5% of its overall business. Relaxo’s brands include Sparkx, Bahamas, and Filte the business plans to focus on expanding in markets where it already has a retail presence while targeting double digit growth for the coming five years.
“We have experienced significant growth over the past few years and aim to maintain this momentum in the coming years,” said Dua. “We plan to achieve it by working on geographical expansion and leveraging our presence in the existing markets through tailor-made products, local feet on the street, and data-backed decision.”
