Purple Style Labs has secured the rental of 59,000 square feet of retail space in the South Mumbai neighbourhood Fort, ET Bureau reported. The building will have a monthly rent of Rs 3 crore which will increase to Rs 3.25 crore in the second year then Rs 3.5 crore in the third year, Rs 3.65 crore in the fourth year, and Rs 3.8 crore in the fifth year of occupancy.

The building is located at Fort’s Flora Fountain and is 110 years old, the Economic Times reported. Spanish fast fashion brand Zara had previously rented the building for its exclusive brand outlet in the area but, after almost eight years, the brand closed its store in early 2025. Although some global fashion brands are slowing down or even reversing their brick-and-mortar expansion strategies in India, the leasing of large scale spaces and continued opening of shopping malls suggests that demand for marquee retail spaces in key metro areas remains.

Purple Style Labs is owned by entrepreneur Abhishek Agarwal and the business has raised a total of $55.2 million in funding over 13 rounds, according to Tracxn. Established in 2015, the business’ brands comprise Pernia’s Pop-Up Shop, Pernia’s Pop-Up Studio, First Look, Wendell Rodricks, and Hemant Trevedi, according to its website.
