“Our top priority is to rapidly expand offline by opening more franchise stores and collaborating with the right partners,” said Pepperfry’s chief growth officer Shubbam Sharma, India Retailing reported. “This will provide our online customers with the touch-and-feel experience, especially for high-involvement purchases where trust is key to closing the sale.”

Pepperfry currently counts approximately 150 brick-and-mortar outlets in close to 100 Indian cities. The business aims to deepen its connection with its customers and reach new demographics by expanding into new cities and neighbourhoods.

The business also aims to expand its product offering for growth. “We plan to expand into home utilities and small appliances that enhance lifestyle, like kitchen gadgets and vacuum cleaners, while avoiding large appliances,” said Sharma. “Many more categories are also in the pipeline as part of our growth strategy.”

Ambareesh Murthy and Ashish Shah launched Pepperfry in 2011 as an e-commerce first business. In 2014, Pepperfry launched its first multi-brand brick-and-mortar outlet in Mumbai and the business today retails a selection of over 1,000 Indian and international brands including Nilkamal, RoyalOak, HomeTown, Orange Tree, Duroflex, Wakefit, and Raymond among others, according to its Facebook page.
