Indian creative education institute Pearl Academy showed how Indian craft techniques can be used to innovate in fashion at its showcase at London Fashion Week in the UK in partnership with Fashion Week & The City. Pearl Academy’s showcase told the world that young Indian design talent is a leading force in the global fashion industry. Each of its four up and coming brands presented its own take on Indian craft heritage, translating centuries old techniques into wearable looks for today.

Shivika Agrawal drew inspiration from the Toda tribe for ‘Teikirshy,’ a collection which took the traditional ‘pukhoor’ embroidery technique from Tamil Nadu and translated it into wearable resort wear, Pearl Academy announced in a press release. Ryfin, a brand by undergraduate students Khushi Agrawal and Satyam Saini, explored Maharashtrian textiles and motifs and sustainability in its bold, fusion style collection.

Pearl Academy undergraduate fashion design student Hermnn Singh presented the collection ‘Symphony of Art’, inspired by artists including Salvador Dalí and Frida Kahlo and using Zardozi and Ari work in surrealist silhouettes. Payal Dawar looked to Bihar for inspiration and presented Madhubani art from Mithila, translated into global shapes and rendered in organic, hand-spun Ghicha Silk sourced from Bhagalpur.

“Fashion today is not just about aesthetics; it’s about storytelling, cultural relevance, and sustainability,” said Pearl Academy’s president Aditi Srivastava in a press release. “At Pearl Academy, we are committed to shaping future designers who don’t just create fashion but influence it. Our curriculum is built on the foundation of holistic learning- combining design thinking, technical prowess, and industry exposure- ensuring that our students are not just runway-ready, but future-ready.”

The runway show took place at St John Church in Hyde Park, London and was designed to cement Pearl Academy’s standing as a global leader in creative education. “As fashion becomes increasingly global, the need for exposure on international platforms has never been more critical,” announced the education institute.
