OTW, Vans’ high end brand, invites Proenza Schouler to reinterpret its slip-on

OTW, the premium line from Vans, has invited New York fashion house Proenza Schouler to delve into its heritage and reinterpret one of its flagship sneaker models, the “Classic Slip-on.”

The Vans x Proenza Schouler “Puffy Slip-On” – Vans

Vans has announced the launch of the OTW (Off the Wall) line in 2023. Each season, Vans invites brands or creative personalities to create capsule collections. The first, released last February, was designed by Californian label S.R Studio LA. Now it’s Proenza Schouler’s turn.

The luxury fashion house known for its minimalist, arty-inspired style has designed a pair of “puffy” slip-ons for Vans, in leather with exaggerated contours and available in three colours: ecru, black and pastel yellow. Priced at 200 euros, the black and ecru versions will be available from May 29 on the OTW and Proenza Schouler websites. The pastel yellow model will only be sold on the Proenza Schouler website and at its flagship store at 121 Greene Street in New York.

By teaming up with cutting-edge, high-end fashion brands, Vans is attempting to revitalise its offering and its image, despite a 26% fall in sales in the fourth quarter of 2024. The group to which it belongs, VF Corp, owner of The North Face, Timberland, Dickies and more, is going through a rough time with quarterly sales down 13%, management reshuffles and the potential sale of the emblematic streetwear label Supreme, on which it had bet big four years earlier, acquiring it for 2.1 billion dollars (1.94 billion euros).
