Woven and printed fashion label business Nilörn Bangladesh has joined sustainable textile production business Bluesign as a system partner. The link up is part of Nilörn Bangladesh’s work to prioritise sustainability and eco-responsibility.
“We ship our products to more than 85 countries around the world and are hence part of far-reaching supply chains,” said Nilörn’s global sustainability manager Anna-Karin Wårfors in a press release. “We know that such a global presence calls for globally responsible actions. We aim to be sustainability leaders in our industry… Nilörn’s sustainability strategy outlines our objectives and areas of concentration for the long term.”
Nilörn’s Portugal operations have been partnered with Bluesign since 2012 and its East Asia operations signed up in 2017. Bluesign uses technology to set environmental standards and to eliminate harmful substances from the beginning of the textile manufacturing process.
“We are very happy to add Nilörn Bangladesh as a Bluesign system partner,” said Wårfors. “The Bluesign system uses a strict audit and chemical management system to eliminate harmful substances throughout the supply chain, ensuring that products meet stringent consumer safety requirements and are produced sustainably. The Bluesign labels cover responsible use of resources, production with minimal impact on people and the environment, and the highest level of consumer safety.”
Bluesign was founded in the year 2000 and as to give consumers confidence in purchasing sustainable products. Along with fabric labels, Nilörn also produces an array of packaging materials for fashion businesses.
