Meesho reports 40% y-o-y growth during festive sale, sees strong rural uptake

E-commerce platform Meesho reported a 40% year on year increase in orders placed during its ‘Meesho Mega Blockbuster Sale 2024.’ The business also witnessed a surge in shoppers hailing from rural locations and new e-commerce customers.

“During our Mega Blockbuster Sale this year, we achieved over 40% growth in orders, surpassing industry expectations,” said Meesho’s general manager of user growth Milan Partani, the Press Trust of India reported. “With around three crore app downloads and a 45% increase in new to e-commerce users, we are reinforcing our commitment to making e-commerce accessible and affordable for millions across the country.”
 
Meesho held its flagship sale from September 27 to October 6, according to the business’ Facebook page. Approximately 45% of Meesho’s total customer visits came from Tier 4 cities and beyond, showing the increasing uptake in rural e-commerce consumers. More rural locations where Meesho saw particular demand included West Bengal’s Ranaghat, Uttar Pradesh’s Bhadohi, Bihar’s Jaynagar, Kerala’s Neyyattinkara, Uttarakhand’s Naugarh, and Assam’s Sivasagar.
 
Meesho’s beauty and personal care product category saw a 60% increase in orders. The business’ baby essentials segment grew by 75% and its home and kitchen segment witnessed 105% growth, ET Bureau reported.
