Meesho reports 100% year-on-year sales growth on day one of flagship sale

E-commerce platform Meesho reported that its seen its orders nearly double on the first day of its flagship festive sale compared to last year. Meesho’s daily orders more than tripled as it kicked off its ‘Mega Blockbuster Sale.’

“What a record breaking start to our annual Mega Blockbuster Sale,” wrote Meesho’s founder Vidit Aatrey in a post on X (formerly Twitter). “On behalf of everyone at Meesho, thank you for trusting us as your go-to online shopping destination! This is just the beginning, and we’re excited to break even more records together this festive sale season.”
 
On day one of its sale, Meesho reported close to 6.5 crore unique customers on its mobile app, ET Tech reported. The business had also reported approximately 1.5 crore mobile shopping app downloads ahead of the sale, which kicked off over the weekend.
 
A major goal of e-commerce businesses’ flagship sales is new customer acquisition. Meesho reported that almost 45% of its orders on day one of the sale came from first time Meesho customers. Meesho’s Mega Blockbuster Sale is powered by brands including Mamaearth and Yagnik and is presented by Denver, offering double digit discounts in product categories including fashion, personal care, and homeware.
