Munich-born fashion house MCM has nabbed New York-born actor Matt Dillon to be the star of its latest campaign entitled ‘Journey to Mars’.
The new campaign, also nicknamed ‘From München to Mars’, is designed to blend the brand’s love of travel with Germany’s legendary skills in engineering and technology.
“MCM has always been about pushing boundaries, and this year, they’ve set their sights on Mars,” the brand stressed in a release.
Founded in Bavaria in 1976, MCM initially stood for its founder’s name, Michael Cromer Munich. Though now it uses the tagline ‘Made for Movement,’ as it targets a new tech-savvy global audience.
For the campaign, the German marque picked Dillon, whose most recent role was playing the part of an even more famous cinematic legend, Marlon Brando, in the film ‘Maria’. The biopic starring Anamaria Vartolomei of the actress Maria Schneider, who played opposite Brando in the most scandalous film of the 1970s, ‘Last Tango in Paris’, was presented in Cannes this summer.
For MCM, Dillon teams up with up-and-coming actress Zelda Adams and model Steph Shiu. In a campaign shot by Collier Schorr, a photographer known for her youth fantasy style.
“Our motto From München to Mars is about pushing beyond limits. Our mission is to serve the needs of digital nomads. We’re committed to testing boundaries, leveraging new technology to explore new horizons. AI plays a significant role in this campaign, not only by taking a leap in innovation but also taking the path towards a more sustainable future,” stressed MCM chairperson Sung-Joo Kim, a dynamic Korean businesswoman who acquired the brand in 2005.
A campaign that also highlights MCM’s new Diamant 3D bag, along with other key pieces in the collection – the stark backpack in Cognac Visetos, visionary eyewear, and key ready-to-wear items in futuristic metallic silver and iconic Cognac Visetos. All designed as equipment in an otherworldly mission.
