Fine jewellery brand Malabar Gold & Diamonds’ parent company Malabar Group announced a series of Educational Scholarships for girl students in Telangana for the 2024–2025 academic year at an event in Hyderabad as part of its corporate social responsibility efforts to support girls’ education.
“Education is the most powerful tool to change the world,” said Malabar Group’s chairman MP Ahammed, the Press Trust of India reported. “Our scholarship programme is a direct reflection of Malabar Group’s deep-rooted belief that education unlocks opportunities and transforms lives. We are committed to removing barriers for young girls so they can fulfil their educational aspirations and contribute meaningfully to society.”
Malabar Group made the announcement at an event at the Telangana State IAS Officers Institute in Hyderabad’s Somajiguda. Inaugurated by the Government of Telangana’s minister for Panchayat Raj and rural development and women and child welfare D Anasuya Seethakka Garu, the event also welcomed senior executives at Malabar Group.
This year, Malabar Group’s scholarship programme has a budget of Rs 16 crore which will be used to support more than 21,000 girl students in their pursuit of an education. In the state of Telangana, the project will aid over 3,900 girl students in 116 state colleges with a budget of Rs 3.14 crore.
The Malabar National Scholarship Programme was established in 2007 and has thus far contributed more than Rs 60 crore to its student support initiatives. Malabar Group allocates 5% of its profits to its CSR initiatives.
