Lucien Pagès Communication, Paris’ most happening PR company, has sold his firm to The Independents, in the latest deal by the burgeoning comms and production group.

Pagès broke the news Friday morning in a release stating that his firm “joins forces with The Independents, the world’s leading communications group for luxury, fashion, beauty and lifestyle brands.”

Lucien Pagès – Olivier Hadlee Pearch

Founded in Paris in 2006, Lucien Pagès also boasts a sizeable New York office, and the reputation for spotting brilliant emerging talent and skillfully managing their communications strategies. Key young designers like Jonathan Anderson, Jacquemus and Chitose Abe of Sacai hired Pagès early in their careers and have remained loyal to him. While the firm also handles events for various uber marques like Ferrari, Max Mara, Ralph Lauren and Hublot. The company is widely present at the menswear and women’s runway seasons of London, Milan, New York and Paris, and has a reputation for timely efficiency in the sector.

Lucien Pagès specializes in assisting brands with their communications strategy, as well as their relations with the press and players in the luxury sector in all its forms.  Today, the office has over a hundred international clients in the fashion, beauty, lifestyle and art sectors.

“I’ve known the founders of The Independents, Isabelle and Olivier Chouvet, personally for many years. We share the same values of hard work and excellence, but also a love of the Cévennes, the place where I was born and grew up. Joining The Independents after 18 years of existence represents a tremendous opportunity for us,” Pagès said in the release.

The Independents is a rapidly growing group centered on the luxury and lifestyle industries, that encompasses over a dozen PR, publicists, influencer marketing, communications and production companies including Atelier Athem, Atelier LUM, Bureau Béatrice, Bureau Betak & Bureau Future, Ctzar, Inca Productions, Karla Otto, Kitty Events, k2, Kennedy, Kitten Production, Lefty, Lucien Pagès Communication, Prodject, Sunshine and The Qode.

It defines itself as collective and has offices in Milan, Paris, London, Munich, Barcelona, New York, Los Angeles, Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai, Singapore, Tokyo, Seoul, Dubai,̈ Riyadh and Jeddah. Since June 2023, The Independents has been backed by Banijay Group and Towerbrook CapitalPartners.

Given the presence of powerhouse fashion PR firm Karlo Otto within The Independents, there would appear to be substantial overlap of clients. However, Pagès was careful to stress that: “This association will change neither the organization nor the structure that I have built with a certain philosophy. This synergy will enable us to carry out ever more ambitious and innovative projects, while remaining true to our values and our commitment to our customers and my teams.”

Terms of the agreement were not made available, and while the release spoke of Pagès “associating” his firm with The Independents, the larger group has effectively bought control of the companies with its growing empire.

Added Isabelle Chouvet, CEO of The Independents: “Their (Lucien Pagès Communication) expertise will enable us not only to create positive synergies within the group, but also to develop new perspectives in an ever-changing world. This is the culmination of a friendly and professional relationship begun some time ago, and it was the right time to make it happen.”
