Two days after it emerged that Loewe had pulled out of the upcoming menswear season in Paris, the house confirmed on Wednesday that it will stage a co-ed show in the French capital in March.
“Loewe’s men’s collection will be presented together with the women’s collection in March,” the house confirmed to FashionNetwork.com in a brief statement.
Nonetheless, the decision to pull Loewe men’s show from the Paris menswear catwalks still represents a substantial loss to that season. In recent years, under the guidance of creative director Jonathan Anderson, Loewe has been the most keenly anticipated show of Paris menswear, famed for its dynamic collections, arty and theatrical sets and uber hip front-row.
Frequently staged inside the glass-roofed riding school of the Garde Républicaine cavalry regiment, the Loewe menswear shows have often been the most important single menswear statement of the European season.
However, the news will not significantly dampen speculation that Anderson may be about to take an important new position in fashion. Since it also emerged this past week, that he had pulled his signature JW Anderson show from the Milan menswear calendar, where it has shown for several seasons. And had dropped his signature women’s wear show from the provisional London Fashion Week calendar, which was issued on Monday.
The Ulster-born designer’s name has been linked with the likes of Dior, Louis Vuitton and Gucci for quite some time.
The next menswear seasons in Milan and Paris, respectively, run from Friday, Jan. 17 to Monday, Jan. 20; and from Tuesday, Jan. 21 to Sunday, Jan. 26.
While the next London Fashion week is scheduled from Thursday, Feb. 20 to Monday, Feb. 24. And the Paris women’s ready to wear season will take place from Monday, March 3 to Tuesday, March 11.
