Ikea partners with Rhenus, signs MoU to launch warehouse

Swedish homeware and lifestyle brand Ikea has joined forces with global logistics business Rhenus. The businesses have signed a memorandum of understanding to launch a new warehouse as part of a wider plan to ameliorate the home delivery experience for shoppers across the Delhi NCR area.

“Our collaboration with Rhenus transcends decades,” said Ikea’s country customer fulfilment manager for India Saiba Suri, the Press Trust of India reported. “Bringing their expertise and experience in growing Ikea in other global markets to our operations here is an exciting opportunity for both in our India journey. We don’t just plan to scale but create a customer experience that is good for the planet and for the people. Ikea is excited to announce its first foot down in Delhi NCR alongside Rhenus.”
 
The warehouse Ikea and Rhenus will open will provide storage and fulfilment for over 7,000 products, Rhenus announced on Facebook. The partnership is designed to bolster Ikea’s e-commerce presence in India through improved logistics. Ikea currently retails in the country from its India e-commerce store and brick-and-mortar outlets in locations including Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru.
 
“As we expand our partnership from a European base to a global scale, our journey with Ikea is a testament to our shared commitment to excellence, innovation, and sustainability,” said Rhenus India’s regional CEO Vivek Arya, ET Bureau reported. This new warehousing project in India is not just an expansion of our operations, but a bold step towards a more inclusive and diverse global presence.”
