Home, accessories, and lifestyle brand Ikea now offers 100% electric vehicle deliveries in Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Pune. The Swedish business plans to both do the same in Mumbai and enter all new markets with a similar electric vehicle approach as part of its commitment to sustainability.
“For Ikea, a sustainable value chain is an essential part of our growth journey,” said Ikea India’s chief executive officer Susanne Pulverer, India Retailing reported. “This is just the first of the many milestones in that effort and we are proud to lead the EV journey from our foundational years in India.”
Ikea plans to use all electric vehicles for its expansion into Delhi NCR and aims to launch its retail operations in the area next year. The business also aims to ameliorate its current delivery services and will pilot a same day delivery option in Hyderabad then scale the service to all of the Indian markets it operates in over the course of the coming 12 months.
Ikea first began using commercial electric vehicle solutions in 2019 and has now reached an electric vehicle adoption rate of approximately 88%. In order to expand its electric vehicle and delivery network, Ikea has partnered with a number of local Indian manufacturers, including small and medium-sized businesses and startups.
