The Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council held its first ever meeting to connect with the jewellery industry of Kashmir. Held in Srinagar on July 18, the GJEPC explored collaborative opportunities in the region.
Members of the GJEPC’s leadership and Committee of Administration travelled to Kashmir to hold its first meeting with members of the region’s jewellery industry, including both traders and retailers from Srinagar and beyond, the GJEPC reported on its website. The aim of the meeting was to look into ways to connect the local jewellery industry with the rest of India to boost mutual business.
The GJEPC’s chairman Vipul Shah led the meeting and other attendees included GJEPC vice chairman Kirit Bhansali, National Exhibitions Sub-committee convenor Nirav Bhansali, executive director Sabyasachi Ray, and North regional chairman Ashok Seth along with other members of the Committee of Administration. The aim of the meeting was discussing possible ways to achieve mutual growth and cooperation, according to the GJEPC.
Kashmir’s cultural heritage was a particular point of note for the meeting as it was posited that its unique craftsmanship traditions could prove popular in multiple geographies. The GJEPC delegation invited jewellery associations from Kashmir to its upcoming trade shows including India International Jewellery Show Premiere which will take place from August 8 to 13 in Mumbai.
