GJEPC aims to bring Amritsar’s jewellery to global audiences

The Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council aims to bring jewellery made in Amritsar to global markets and held a meeting with the Sarafa Association Amritsar to explore opportunities for growth while addressing concerns of local jewellers.

On October 18, the GJEPC pledged its support to the Sarafa Association Amritsar to aid its export efforts, Jewellery News India reported. The Punjab city has a notable jewellery manufacturing community and is notably known for its fashion jewellery.
 
“The GJEPC expressed its commitment to supporting the association’s members in their export endeavours,” announced the traders’ body on its website. “Several association members also indicated their interest in participating as exhibitors in the upcoming IIJS Premiere 2025 and expressed their intention to register as GJEPC members.”
 
The meeting explored strategies to help member jewellers enter the export market including how to begin exporting through hand-carry shipments. According to the GJEPC, local jewellers showed particular interest in taking part in jewellery trade shows in the Middle East and aimed to gain a better understanding of the region’s market and customers.
 
Touching on issues affecting the local industry, the meeting addressed the delay in jewellery parcel shipment examinations at the port in Amritsar. The GJEPC stated that it is in the process of addressing the issue and aims to help speed up the port’s operations.
