Must read

On July 30, designer Gaurav Gupta took the ideas of hope and infinite possibilities and translated them into a mix of highly conceptual and classically glamorous men’s and women’s occasion wear at Hyundai India Couture Week in New Delhi.

Gaurav Gupta’s couture collection ‘Arunodaya’ explored the idea of the first light of dawn after a long darkness while highlighting traditional craft techniques such as Zardozi. Figure-hugging gowns and dramatically proportioned cocktail dresses walked the runway alongside veiled lehengas and men’s tailored traditional style suits.

The show’s jewellery partner was Anmol Jewels which dressed the models in glittering chokers set with coloured gemstones. Makeup was kept classic and hair was mostly pulled back in sleek styles to emphasise Gupta’s striking designs.

Bollywood celebrities Vedang Raina and Khushi Kapoor closed the show and added a youthful energy to the occasion. Raina wore a glittering black ensemble and Kapoor was dressed in a silver lehenga, completely covered in sparkling embellishments and featuring dramatic sheer drapes from the sleeves which trailed across the runway.

Hyundai India Couture Week launched its 17th season to date at the Taj Palace in New Delhi on July 24. The couture week runs until July 31 and is an initiative of the Fashion Design Council of India. Sponsors include Hyundai India, Lotus Makeup, and Reliance Brands Limited and the event’s runway shows are also broadcast online.
