E-commerce major Flipkart expects to create one lakh new jobs in India ahead of the autumn festive season as it bolsters its fulfilment centre total. The business is preparing for its flagship sale event ‘Big Billion Days 2024’ which will offer significant discounts on a range of fashion and lifestyle goods.
“With its commitment to socio-economic development, Flipkart remains focused on enabling employment opportunities, creating over one lakh new jobs within its supply chain across the country,” said Flipkart in a statement, India Retailing reported. “This aims to strengthen Flipkart’s operational capabilities while empowering local communities and driving economic growth during this year’s festive season.”
The Walmart-owned business has also opened 11 new fulfilment centres in nine Indian cities to bring its India fulfilment centre total to 83 ahead of the upcoming festive season. The business plans to create a large number of seasonal jobs to cater to increased demand during the season.
Most of the new jobs Flipkart will create will be spread across its supply chain verticals. They will include warehouse associates, logistics coordinators, delivery drivers, and inventory managers as well as kirana store partners. Flipkart also plans to hold skill training programmes to prepare its new workers for the festive season.
