UK designer David Koma has announced plans to launch his debut menswear collection in Milan, during the menswear season this coming June.
Koma will unveil his first menswear ideas in a presentation on Saturday afternoon, June 15, the second day of the five-day runway season in Milan.
An atmospheric red and black image of a youth captured standing at a window on the invitation indicates that the presentation will take place at via Balilla, in south central Milan.
Koma has blended masculine and feminine elements in several recent shows in London, notably a Marlene Dietrich inspired collection in February 2023, where he displayed mannish shirt dresses; black leather spy coats and boyfriends’ blazers.
Born in Tbilisi, Georgia, Koma studied fine arts in St Petersburg before moving to London in 2003 to study at Central Saint Martins.
Following graduation, he launched his own house in 2009 and has shown women’s wear in London Fashion Week ever since, attracting notable clients like Beyoncé, Dua Lipa, Scarlett Johansson and Jennifer Lopez.
Known for his body-con silhouettes, sculptural shapes and advanced fabrics with couture finishes, Koma was also creative director of Mugler in Paris. A position he held for five years until December 2017.
His collection is listed on the official menswear calendar of the Camera della Moda, Italian fashion’s governing body; and his collection will be one of the most anticipated of the season.
