Beauty service demand jumps 153% in India in winter 2024: Justdial

India saw a significant increase in demand for beauty services in 2024 as online searches for beauty services rose by 153% year on year during the winter of 2024 with both metro and non-metro demand increasing, according to local search engine Justdial. 

“The significant surge in demand, particularly during the winter months and across various service categories, reflects a growing emphasis on self-care and personal grooming,” announced Justdial in a press release. “The data highlights the increasing preference for professional beauty services, indicating a shift towards convenient and accessible options for consumers.”

Metro cities saw particularly high levels of growth in terms of beauty service searches with a 192% year on year surge in the winter of 2024. Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Chennai saw beauty service searches triple and Kolkata and Pune saw searches rise by 2.5 times. 

In non-metro locations, beauty service demand increased by 131% year on year in the same time period. Notably, demand tripled in Chandigarh and rose by 2.5 times in Jaipur. The most popular category in the sector was hair spas which saw a 219% increase in searches and sixfold increase in Mumbai. 

Searches for beauty services increased by 42% in winter 2024 compared to the summer of the same year. Metro cities saw the most pronounced increase from summer to winter at 65%.
