Amazon India reports 26% rise in same or next day deliveries for Prime members

E-commerce business Amazon India reported a 26% year on year increase in same and next day deliveries for its paid ‘Prime’ members as it expands the number of eligible pin codes for the service across India. 

“Amazon Prime members in India enjoyed fastest-ever delivery speeds in 2024,” announced Amazon India in a statement, the Press Trust of India reported. “More than 41 crore items were delivered the same or next day, a 26% increase year over year.”

The business has widened the reach of its same and next day delivery services in response to the growing demand for swift e-commerce deliveries. In 2024, Amazon India increased eligible pin codes for the service by 11%, ET Retail reported. 

“It’s not just time that customers are saving, Prime members also saved on average over Rs 3,300 on fast, free deliveries last year- more than two times the cost of an annual Prime membership,” announced Amazon India in a post on its website. “Globally, Amazon Prime delivered over 9 billion units the Same or Next Day around the world last year and members around the world saved nearly $95 billion in fast, free delivery.”

The business saw a particular increase in same or next day deliveries for its every essentials products in India which were 23% higher in 2024 than in 2023. Amazon India’s Prime membership is a paid service which facilitates ameliorated purchase and delivery options for its members including early access to online sale events.
