Abraham & Thakore collaborates with Tilak Samarawickrema for exhibition

Abraham & Thakore, a label by designer duo David Abraham and Rakesh Thakore collaborated with Sri Lankan artist Tilak Samarawickrema for its ‘Dash, Dot, and Line’ exhibition.

The exhibition, a part of the Defence Colony Art Night saw woven artworks of Tilak Samarawickrema which embodied the philosophy of “less is more,” characterized by a monochromatic colour palette and strikingly minimal graphic patterns.

With this collaboration, Abraham & Thakore aim to cultivate a rich dialogue between textiles and visual art.

Commenting on the collaboration, Abraham & Thakore in a statement said, “Our design sensibilities have been shaped by our training at NID, Ahmedabad which was hugely influenced by Bauhaus. Given that, the artworks of Tilak Samarawickrema, its graphic elements, colour palette, and minimal sensibility is what resonates with Abraham & Thakore’s design philosophy also.”

The exhibition will be open to public until February 12, 2025, at their store located at Defence Colony, New Delhi.
