Womenswear brand Mellowdrama has explored new techniques for repurposing fabric waste for its new ready-to-wear line ‘AlterEgo,’ inspired by the ideas of individuality and self expression and designed to promote responsible production.

A look from AlterEgo by Mellowdrama – Mellowdrama

“The AlterEgo collection is a call to embrace your true self, whether for an everyday look or a standout moment,” announced the brand in a press release. “These designs embody the spirit of transformation, encouraging you to break free from the ordinary… Inspired by the inner voice that defies convention, mocks monotony, and rejects the mundane, AlterEgo transforms everyday routines into extraordinary moments with its bold blend of mellow comfort and dramatic flair.”

The collection uses textiles such as twills and cottons to create soft shapes which are contrasted with tactile separates and more structured garments. Notable looks include sets in black with zipper trimmed ruffles, metallic trench coats, and distressed denim used to create fringe.

The collection is priced from Rs 8,000 and retails from Mellowdrama’s direct to customer e-commerce store as well as its recently opened exclusive brand outlet in New Delhi’s premium shopping destination, The Dhan Mill. Designer and entrepreneur Aaina Mahajan launched Mellowdrama as a ready-to-wear label which focuses on “bold yet comfortable fashion.” The brand was established in 2016 after Mahajan graduated from the London College of Fashion in the UK.
